> WHAT IS A CUSTOMER ID NUMBER? <
A Maryland Customer Identifier number is a number created by the Maryland MVA that allows MVA employees to find you in their system. The number usually starts with MD-1027. Below is a list of sources of where you can find your Maryland Customer ID number if you have one.
If you do not have a Customer ID number, send your photo identification immediately. After scheduling your final test appointment, we will send an application to the MVA to request one for you.
- Maryland Driver's License or State ID Card - You can find your Customer ID number on a Driver's License or Identification card. A newer number starts with MD-1027; an older number starts with the first letter of your last name. If you previously had a driver's license or ID card in Maryland, the Customer ID number is still valid - even if the card is expired.
- Maryland Car Registration or Title - If you have a car registered in Maryland under your name, you can find the Customer ID number on the title or registration card. It may also be labeled as Driver's License number, ID number, or Soundex number.
- SAVE Application - If you have submitted a Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements case, you can find the Customer ID number on your case check notice. See more information here under International Students, Au Pairs, G4 Visa Holders.
- Previous MVA Visit - If you have previously visited the MVA and submitted all required documents, the MVA employee may have created a Customer ID number. It would be found on paperwork they gave you. We cannot use censored numbers like MD-********405.
